TEDxCharlottesville will be held at the Paramount Theater on November 15, 2013, with a special satellite event at the Jefferson Theater. TEDx is a locally organized event inviting leading thinkers and doers to give 'TED Talks'--very brief presentations accompanied by visuals--about their world-changing ideas.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on August 16, 2013. To compete at Open Mic Night (September 30 at the Jefferson Theater) for a chance to give a TED Talk, submit an application by August 15.

Speakers at TEDxCharlottesville include such figures as Zoë Romano, who plans to run the Tour de France on foot; Laura Mulligan Thomas, director of the Charlottesville High School Orchestra; Dr. Joel Fuhrman, a renowned doctor specializing in nutrition-based treatments for obesity and chronic disease; Edwin Roa, founder of Zabor Dance; and Dr. Leslie Gordon, who discovered the gene defect causing the disease Progeria.
