Plans for renewed Yancey revealed

Thursday marked a turning point for Albemarle County’s smallest school, where dwindling enrollment rates and an aging infrastructure have threatened the building’s operations for more than a decade.
A citizen advisory committee, tasked earlier this year with assessing additional uses for the building in the county’s sleepy southern corner, presented its final report to the county’s Board of Supervisors and school board at a joint meeting.
