Monday, April 28, 2014 at 11:27 a.m.

The Albemarle School Board adopted an operational budget of $160.4 million.  The Board had to cut $3.9 million from its original funding request to arrive at a balanced spending plan.  The budget increased from $155.3 million last year, or by about 3 percent.  Some school board members said the cuts were cause for concern and that savings could have been found elsewhere in the budget.

Which of these cost-saving methods concerns you the most?

Increasing Class Size

Class size averages are increasing by 0.2 students

Reducing proposed raises

Salary increases for staff and teachers were reduced from 2 percent to 1 percent

Across the board cuts to schools, departments
