Lawsuit hearing over Stonefield runoff pipe begins

Two local businesses want the flow of additional stormwater stopped. The developer of the Stonefield shopping center counters that it has a right to channel away runoff from a creek tributary.

A civil trial opened Tuesday in Albemarle County Circuit Court pitting the owners of the Seminole Square shopping center — Great Eastern Management Co. — and an adjoining Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. property against Edens, Stonefield’s South Carolina-based developer.
