Albemarle schools discard milk that spoiled prematurely

Albemarle County Schools have discarded milk from a Newport News-based dairy after discovering it delivered spoiled half-pints to the division, officials said Wednesday.

In a message to parents, Christina Pitsenberger, director of the child nutrition program for county schools, said the division decided to remove the milk, shipped from Marva Maid Dairy, as a precaution following recent internal inspections that found spoiled and potentially spoiled milk. County school children were served water and juice with their Wednesday meals.
