Jason Buyaki is a candidate for the Rivanna District seat on the Albemarle County School Board.  Five of the seven seats on board will be determined in the Nov. 3 election. Buyaki is an incumbent running unopposed.

Each candidate was interviewed by Charlottesville Tomorrow and asked 10 questions about their qualifications, priorities and important education issues.  Included in the box at the right are links to the full transcript and audio recording of those interviews (also available on iTunes).

Bio: Jason moved to Albemarle County in 2006 and embraced it as his home.  With a young family, and life centered around the school community Jason served on the Stony Point PTO and as a Parent Council Representative.  While serving on the School Board, he continues to focus on wise usage of taxpayer funds, expanded learning opportunities for students, accountability, liberty, and transparent governance.

Education:  B.S., Secondary Education – Government and History, Central Michigan University

Occupation: Model Maker, Sculptor, and Artist at Gale Force Nine

Previous political experience: Appointed to Albemarle County School Board Rivanna District seat vacancy in February 2011.  Elected to Albemarle County School Board Rivanna District seat in 2011.

Age on Election Day: 42

Hometown:  Ottawa Lake, Michigan

Family: I am blessed to be married to my wife, Crystal, for a wonderful 13 years and we have 4 school age children.
