Albemarle economic development plan wins funding, support from supervisors

The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors on Wednesday approved funding for the county’s Economic Development Strategic Plan, which looks to evaluate and hopefully improve the economic landscape in the county.
The purpose of this strategic plan is to develop a sense of where the county is, economically speaking, and how it compares to similar localities in Virginia. The plan is data-driven and evaluates several factors, including decisions on site locations, faculty expansions or relocations for businesses and development.
The board unanimously agreed to appropriate $25,000 in order to pay for professional services needed to complete the strategic plan, such as engineering consultations to help complete ongoing infrastructure inventory and site assessment work in the county’s development areas.
