Public commenters back increased Albemarle schools funding

All members of the public who spoke at an Albemarle County School Board public hearing Thursday night — teachers, principals and parents — showed support for the full funding request for the coming fiscal year as outlined by the superintendent in January.
The budget request asks for additional funding for compensation, rising health insurance costs, staff development, school nurses, special-education needs and some temporary relief for capacity issues at Albemarle High School.
