City agrees to $2.85 million purchase of Market Street property

After announcing last week its plans to purchase the site and improve parking downtown, the Charlottesville City Council has officially adopted a $2.85 million purchase agreement to acquire a nearly half-acre parcel on Market Street.
The parcel, which envelops 801 and 805 Market Street, includes the Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant and the Lucky Seven convenience store. According to online property records, the parcel is owned by PJB Market LLC and assessed for $1,443,700.
