Efficiency study outlines ideas for city police department

A study presented recently to Charlottesville’s City Council offers ideas to improve city government operations, including more than a dozen recommendations for the police department — and city police are going to take their time examining each and every one.
Beginning with an overview of the Charlottesville Police Department’s operations and organizational structure, the $101,250 study — conducted by the Cincinnati-based Novak Consulting Group — showed police account for 53 percent of total expenditures in the public safety and justice division of city government.
