Charlottesville – Central Virginia students in grades K-12 are encouraged to participate in the upcoming “My Help List” Contest starting on Monday, March 13, 2017 through Friday, April 21, 2017. The contest is an extension of the “ALL People Matter,” help someone initiative by Charlottesville Native, Author and Award Winner, Mr. Alex-Zan.

To enter the contest, students from a school (or Home School) in the Charlottesville/Albemarle and surrounding counties are eligible. They must (1) in 150 words or less, share in writing: It’s important to help others because…and (2) list five (5) things you have done to help someone or can do to help someone.

There will be four (4) winners chosen by selected judges. The winners will be from K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12 and they will win a cash prize of $100.00 followed by a reception for winners’ families and sponsors. All letters and responses can be mailed or dropped off at The Carver Recreation Center, 233 4th St. N.W., Charlottesville, VA 22903.  This contest is centered on students to focus on the importance of Character, Personal Responsibility and Helping Others.
