City Council approves $171.6M FY18 budget

After convening for its annual, usually brief budget adoption meeting Tuesday, the Charlottesville City Council unanimously approved a $171.6 million municipal budget for the 12-month period starting July 1.
After City Manager Maurice Jones publicly presented his $171,619,374 budget proposal for fiscal year 2018 in the beginning of March, tweaks and amendments during the public budget development process the last six weeks have led to the adoption of a $171,657,127 budget.
The budget is an increase of about 6 percent, or $9.6 million, over the current year’s adopted budget.
