Opinion/Editorial: Nostalgia not enough to save arena

A Charlottesville board’s OK on demolishing the Main Street Arena (and adjacent Escafe building) might be distasteful to some, but it is a reasonable decision.
As members of the Board of Architectural Review noted, the arena is not an historic addition to the Downtown Mall. It’s only about two decades old. Times change, needs evolve, and the highest and best use of the site is no longer as an entertainment and recreation venue.
