City’s EDA offers financial assistance opportunity in wake of rallies
Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 8 p.m.
The Charlottesville Economic Development Authority recently passed a resolution that offers financial support — up to $100,000 — to the city for relief efforts following the white nationalist rallies of July 8 and Aug. 12.

Drafted in response to the violence that ensued in the city at those events, particularly the Aug. 12 rally, which resulted in one death and dozens of injuries, the resolution finds the authority offering to provide loans or grants out of its uncommitted revenue to support recovery efforts that promote “our city’s vision and mission of being one community filled with opportunity, providing services that promote equity and quality of life in our community.”
