Pam Moran, who has been superintendent of Albemarle County Public Schools since 2006, announced her retirement Thursday, wrapping up a career in education that has spanned five decades.
Deputy Superintendent Matt Haas will follow in her footsteps next year as superintendent.
The announcement of Moran’s retirement and Haas’ succession was made at Thursday’s Albemarle County School Board meeting. The board voted prior to the public meeting to appoint Haas as the school division’s 20th superintendent.
Moran will stay in her current role until June 30. Haas’ term will start July 1.
