Comments once again overtake Charlottesville City Council meeting
The Daily Progress Monday, November 06, 2017 at 11 p.m.
It was the latest in a long run of raucous City Council meetings on Monday night, with public comment overtaking the agenda.
On the eve of Tuesday’s election, a majority of the speakers during the meeting addressed a recent Daily Progress article on independent City Council candidate Nikuyah Walker’s emails to council members and Mayor Mike Signer’s disclosure early in the evening that he had raised concerns about Walker, who had been sharply critical of some council members and city officials in her emails.
Some speakers also addressed the city’s tentative plans to create a new citizen review board that could grant community members greater oversight of police conduct complaints.
