Opinion/Editorial: Pre-school center lives to thrive again

“Charlottesville has shown in the past how it can meet crisis with creativity and courage,” we said four years ago, almost to the day.
Although the words could describe our aspiration for other problems facing the city right now, at the time it was the Barrett Early Learning Center that was the focus of our attention. The center was facing dire financial stress, in part due to changes in state reimbursement procedures.
“Barrett will survive, and thrive,” we said, “if … community solidarity is brought to bear again.”
It was. And it did.
