Diversity, balance critical to redistricting decisions

For the redistricting committee working toward a recommendation to present to the Albemarle County schools superintendent, more factors than just physical boundaries have guided its decision making.
The committee has discussed the effect on student demographics at Greer, Woodbrook and Agnor-Hurt elementary schools of any redistricting scenario in detail over the last several weeks.
To Sidney Griffin and Kimalee Dickerson, the two equity and diversity representatives on the committee, student demographics are important considerations for redistricting for a number of reasons.
