Opinion/Editorial: Compromise must shape school districts
Daily Progress Editorial Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 7 a.m.
Albemarle County parents are dismayed that, once again, attendance changes are being considered to redistribute students to different schools.
In the northern section of the urban ring, Greer Elementary is overcrowded, while Woodbrook Elementary is undergoing expansion to alleviate crowding there and add capacity. In between them sits Agnor-Hurt, which according to older projections was facing capacity problems but now may be population-stable, according to newer projections.
County school officials must solve capacity problems: Leaving children in overcrowded schools is not conducive to good education.
But shuffling them around may not be good, either, for students or their families.
