Albemarle assessments rise 2.2% on average

The total taxable value of property in Albemarle County has increased 2.2 percent over last year. Some property owners in the county can expect to see an increase in their real estate property tax bills later this year — even if the real estate tax rate remains the same when the next fiscal year begins July 1.

The county announced Friday that it has mailed 2018 assessment notices to property owners. According to the news release, the Rivanna District saw the largest increase in value, with assessments increasing by an average of 2.9 percent.
