With land purchase, Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport looks to future expansion

The Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport Authority has purchased about eight adjacent acres for future terminal development.

The undeveloped land along Airport Road is next to land the airport already owns that fronts Airport Road and Dickerson Road, which CHO Executive Director Melinda Crawford said made buying it an easy decision.

“We knew that [purchasing the land] was the best decision for the airport, because if somebody else came in and bought that property and developed it, we probably couldn’t afford to buy it from them for future development,” she said.
