West2nd negotiations continue after contentious City Council vote

Charlottesville officials and a local developer are back at the negotiating table this week after the City Council last week shot down a request to add a 10th floor to the planned mixed-use building slated to include the home of the Charlottesville City Market.

West2nd developer Keith Woodard said he intends to keep his downtown development project — originally known as Market Plaza — alive after initial remarks shared with The Daily Progress last week suggested he was ready to end the project.

Woodard on Monday said he intends to complete the building, which would occupy the metered parking lot that currently hosts the market.
