Organizations, residents comment on Albemarle's proposed budget

A handful of area residents voiced their opinions Tuesday night on the proposed budget Albemarle County’s executive is recommending for fiscal year 2019.

In his plan, Jeff Richardson projected $428.5 million in revenue and expenditures, which is a 7.7 percent increase over the current year’s adopted budget.

“I’m proud to say that, for the second year in a row, … the county staff will recommend no tax rate increase due in fact, to a large degree, to a strong local economy where we’ve been able over the past year to implement strategic priorities and also to respond to some emerging needs and issues not previously planned for in our strategic plan,” Richardson said.
