Time Capsule Photography Project
Celebrate Our Place and Your Life In It
Charlottesville Tomorrow invites you to be a part of history by submitting 1 or 2 photographs to the Charlottesville Tomorrow Time Capsule Photography Project.
We are pleased to be the corporate sponsor of the new time capsule for Celebrate 250! The photographs submitted will be placed in the Charlottesville Tomorrow Time Capsule as part of Charlottesville's 250th anniversary celebration. That means your photo will be part of history when the time capsule is closed on December 23rd and opened in fifty years during Celebrate 300!
This is a community photography project that asks both casual and serious local photographers to document how their lives intersect with our community.
The photos submitted will serve future generations as a visual archive of what our lives in the Charlottesville/Albemarle area looked like during October-November 2012.
Please limit submissions to 1-2 pictures per person
Please limit file size to 1280 pixels horizontally or vertically, or about 2MB per file
Please send images as JPGs (files ending in .jpg)
As we are creating historical documentation, we ask that you:
- only submit photos taken between October 21-November 30, 2012
- avoid Instagram photos and/or digital editing that is designed to make images look old
To submit, please follow these steps:
During Oct 21-Nov 30, use the 'Click Here to Submit Your Photos' button (below) OR email directly to email@example.com
- In the subject line of the email window, you will see: 'CAPTION, by YOUR NAME'
- Replace these fields with your information
- Example: My favorite oak tree on 250 west near Crozet, by Thomas Jefferson
- Attach your picture(s) to the email message
To help us:
You’re welcome to add your caption and name to the picture’s file name too
Example: my favorite oak tree on 250 west near Crozet by Thomas Jefferson.jpg
- Some photo-editing software allows you to add a description to your image in Metadata. If you add a description here, that will be the information used.
Entries will be accepted from Sunday, October 21, 2012 to Friday, November 30, 2012.
Photos must be appropriate for posting on a community website. Obscene, provocative or otherwise questionable content will not be considered. Charlottesville Tomorrow retains sole discretion as to what constitutes inappropriate content.
Portraits of individuals must be submitted by the picture’s subject. Other pictures of people must be taken in a public place where there is no expectation of privacy.
