2018 CBIC Award Finalists Announced

Area Entrepreneurs, Businesses and Educators Recognized for Leadership, Innovation
Charlottesville, VA, April 5, 2018 – The Charlottesville Business Innovation Council (CBIC) is pleased to release a list of finalists for the 20th Annual CBIC Awards. Twenty-five local organizations and individuals are being recognized with nominations for nine coveted CBIC awards including CBIC Educator of the Year, which comes with a $2,500 technology grant and CBIC Student Entrepreneur of the Year, which comes with a $1,000 grant, and the CBIC Volunteer of the Year, which is announced at the gala.
The CBIC Awards honor Central Virginia’s most innovative organizations, startups and individuals and highlight technology, innovation, and entrepreneurial excellence. A list of all the 2018 CBIC Award finalists is below. Award recipients will be announced live at the 2018 CBIC Awards Gala on Thursday, May 24, at the Paramount Theatre, where local businesses, government, and education leaders will mingle together in a newly formatted evening of entertainment and celebration.
CBIC Executive Director Tracey Greene, co-chair of the gala, explains the importance of the CBIC Awards to central Virginia, “For 20 years now, CBIC has nurtured our region’s increasingly important tech companies and innovative entrepreneurs. Charlottesville is now known for being a leader in the Commonwealth and beyond for business innovation, angel and venture capital investment, and high-wage job creation. CBIC members, sponsors and partners work year-round to nurture an atmosphere of innovation celebrated by the CBIC Awards and now a brand for our region and to ensure Charlottesville remains a leader in tech, innovation and startups.”

Advance Tickets: Rates increase April 13. Tickets to the gala are NOT available at the door.
Other: Cocktail and business dressy attire is appropriate. The redesigned event will feature a short reception with cash bars, a seated awards ceremony with beverages and snacks, a post-ceremony reception featuring Innovators Row – a showcase of innovative startup companies, and multiple and plentiful food stations, and an after party with dual entertainment.
