David Oberg is a candidate for the White Hall seat on the Albemarle County School Board.  Five of the seven seats on board will be determined in the Nov. 3 election. Other candidates in this race include: Caroll “CJ” Hatcher.

Bio: David Oberg is a partner in the Charlottesville law firm of Jones Oberg & Green. Born and raised in rural Alaska, David has been an active member of the Crozet community for the past eight years. He serves his community as a Sunday school teacher for Crozet United Methodist Church, as an after-school Tae Kwon Do instructor for Crozet Elementary Eagle Time, and as a volunteer with his daughter’s Girl Scout troop. David’s father was a public school teacher for 30 years, and David spent six months serving as a substitute teacher in Alaska public schools.

Prior to attending law school, served as the Committee Aide for the Alaska House of Representatives Special Committee on Oil and Gas

Family: Married to my law school sweetheart, D.J. Stoeberl. We have one daughter, Kendra. Kendra attended Crozet Elementary and will start at Henley Middle School this fall.

Other interests and experiences:

I am a third degree black belt and an instructor in Tae Kwon Do. My family and I are members of the Crozet YMCA, and enjoy the swimming pool year round. I enjoy traveling with my family, and have been to 48 of the 50 states. IN 2013, following reconstruction from a catastrophic knee injury, I participated in the Men’s Four Miler Training program, and seven months after surgery finished the race dead last, but finished.
