Republican Earl Smith is a candidate for the Scottsville seat on the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors. Three of the six seats on board will be determined in the Nov. 3 election. Other candidates in this race include: Richard Randolph (D).

Bio: Earl was born and raised right here in Charlottesville/Albemarle County. The experience he has gained in his life as a successful business owner, professional musician and a national franchise consultant will aide him in making sound decisions and asking the hard questions. Earl has a genuine interest in all points of view, and is passionate about helping our community obtain the tools for success and prosperity without the senseless “bureaucratic red tape.” His common sense approach sees accountability to tax payers as an essential ingredient to keeping Albemarle County a great place to live, work and raise a family.

Family: I’m a proud father of a son who graduated from Albemarle County Public School and now serves our country in the United States Air Force.

Other interests and experiences: A love and talent for music used for entertaining (at the Jefferson Theater) and fundraising for local charities such as Ronald McDonald House and Red Shoe C’ville; Utilizing my culinary skills to enter chili cook-offs as part of the 12x award winning team “Belly Achin‘ Blues Chili” to support Veterans. Two of our most recent contest winnings went to support The Wounded Warrior Project and IAVA. Riding motorcycles on the back roads of our beautiful state; Spending time with friends and family at our local gun range.
