Six Charlottesville breweries have partnered with the city’s Office of Economic Development to launch the Charlottesville Ale Trail.

“This [craft beer] trail, unlike many others, is walkable,” said Chris Engel, Charlottesville’s director of economic development.

The founding members of the Charlottesville Ale Trail are Brasserie Saison, Champion Brewery, Hardywood Pilot Brewery & Taproom, Random Row Brewery, South Street Brewery and Three Notch’d Craft Brewery and Kitchen. The full length of the trail is roughly two miles.

The breweries plan to offer joint festivals and will promote their own events on charlottesvillealetrail.org.

Bradley Kipp, owner of Random Row Brewery, spoke for the Charlottesville Ale Trail businesses at a news conference at Three Notch’d on Tuesday.

Kipp said Charlottesville’s existing breweries were supportive of Random Row’s entry into the business two years ago.

“One of the things I am constantly amazed by is the collaborative nature of our industry,” Kipp said. “Now we get to extend that collaboration even more.”

The six breweries will host a launch party for the Charlottesville Ale Trail from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.
