A proposal to provide additional financial support to Albemarle County’s volunteer fire and rescue agencies for annual and capital maintenance has been put on hold.

The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors on Wednesday wanted more information on how the capital maintenance process will work, and it wanted questions answered that volunteer stations chiefs had previously asked.

“At this point, I really have to hit the pause button because I don’t feel comfortable and confident that there’s going to be a level of support out there to sustain this in a way we want it to be sustained,” Supervisor Rick Randolph said.
