Omicron booster shots should be available in the Charlottesville area “sometime this week,” health officials say.

The newly approved Pfizer Bivalent Boosters, designed to vaccinate against the two most prevalent COVID-19 variants currently circulating in the United States, has not yet arrived in the local Blue Ridge Health District. Health district officials say they will likely receive the first doses Wednesday and begin offering the boosters by the end of the week.

A select number of local pharmacies will also receive boosters, though as of Tuesday it was unclear which ones.

The health district will post information on where it will offer the booster shots on this website. You can also check this website for local pharmacies offering the vaccine.
