Charlottesville, Virginia… 3/14/2016… Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) and Bus Lines invite you to attend a poetry reading to celebrate the winners of the latest Bus Lines poetry contest.

The poetry reading will occur on Wednesday, March 16 at 6:00 PM at the Downtown Transit Station (615 East Water Street).

The contest attracted over 450 entries from 302 authors.  Of the entries received, only 36 poems were selected as winners.  Poster sized versions of the winning entries will be displayed this spring and summer on city buses.

In collaboration with CAT, Bus Lines engages area poets from schools and the community through a unique opportunity to display their work publicly.  Since the summer of 2009, Bus Lines has installed over a 1,000 poster cards on City buses.  Regularly-held readings help to celebrate the poets and their work.  Through a special partnership with Special Collections at the University of Virginia Library, all winning Bus Lines poems are deposited into UVA’s permanent collections.
