CACVB Announces Winners in the ‘Capture Charlottesville and Albemarle’ Summer Photography Contest

Judges Choose 3 Winning Images from the 500+ Photos Submitted

Charlottesville, October 20, 2016 – The Charlottesville Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau is pleased to announce the winners of the ‘Capture Charlottesville and Albemarle’ Photography Contest. This lucrative contest, launched in July 2016, invited visitors and local photographers alike to share their most captivating snapshots of the area and compete for one of the three cash prizes, worth $1,000, $500, and $250.

The judging panel was comprised of CACVB staff and local photographer Christian DeBaun of the Charlottesville Photography Initiative. The judges reviewed more than 500 photographs from amateur and professional photographers before making their top three selections. Photographers were asked to submit pictures that would help promote Charlottesville & Albemarle County as a much-desired tourist destination in categories such as landscapes, city life, dining, night life, viticulture and recreation.

“Our area certainly provides picture-perfect opportunities for photographers,” said Kurt Burkhart, Executive Director of the CACVB.  “We are thrilled that so many of them participated in the ‘Capture Charlottesville and Albemarle’ contest and are proud to showcase some of these images in upcoming media campaigns and on the CACVB web site and social media outlets.”
