2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
An upcoming League of Women Voters Sunday Seminar will explore the Equal Rights Amendment, which was passed in 1972. In order to be added to the Constitution, it needed approval by legislatures in three-fourths (38) of the 50 states. It fell short by 3 states. Virginia is one of 15 states that has still not ratified the ERA.
Why is it important? Why hasn’t it been ratified? Will it ever be ratified? The League invites the Charlottesville community to hear ERA activist Pat Fishback answer these questions. A member of the Richmond League of Women Voters, she has advocated for ratification since the mid-seventies.
The seminar is free, open to the public, and will take place on March 18 at CitySpace on the Downtown Mall at 2:00 pm. For more information call the League office at 434-970-1707, visit www.lwv-cva.org, or email email@example.com.
