First Fridays: Our Town, Our Eyes: McGuffey Artists Consider Charlottesville

Opening for First Friday in April, McGuffey Art Center is pleased feature an off-site group show of works by 10 of its member artists. Entitled Our Town, Our Eyes: McGuffey Artists Consider Charlottesville, the exhibition is on view at Charlottesville's CitySpace Gallery from April 6 - 27, 2018. Artists were invited to consider Charlottesville from their point of view, and the resulting show will represent works in a wide range of media, from painting, drawing, and photography, to mixed media, encaustic, and glass.

The participating McGuffey member artists include: Polly Breckenridge; Aaron Farrington; Jack Graves III; Charles Hall; Susan Northington; Kelly Oakes; Jeannine Regan; Madeleine Rhondeau; John Trippel; and Guillermo Ubilla. There will be an opening reception at CitySpace on First Fridays, April 6, 5:30-7:30 pm. The event is free and open to the public.

CitySpace Gallery is a city-owned meeting space managed by Charlottesville Tomorrow, a local nonprofit designed to inform and engage the public by providing clear, non-partisan information and research with the confidence that an informed public will make decisions that will protect and build upon the distinctive character of the Charlottesville-Albemarle area.

Established in 1975, McGuffey Art Center is one of the oldest artist-run organizations in the United States, featuring over 40 studios open to the public, one block from the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville. The McGuffey Arts Association is a group of more than 150 juried members dedicated to providing opportunities for the community to participate in the creative process through free access to open studios, more than 50 annual exhibitions and performances, classes, tours, and outreach projects.
