Catherine Lochner – Albemarle School Board (At-Large)
Catherine Lochner is a candidate for the At-Large seat on the Albemarle County School Board. Five of the seven seats on board will be determined in the Nov. 3 election. Other candidates in this race include: Jonno Alcaro & Dolly Joseph.

Bio: Catherine began volunteering at the Department of Defense Dependent Schools when her family moved overseas in 2000. In 2006, they moved to Oahu where she became a certified reading instructor. She is passionate about equitable access to specialized health services and school services. As a reading instructor she became an advocate – training parents on the special education rights and responsibilities in the public school system. Her family moved to the Charlottesville area in 2010. She now works part time for the Family to Family Network of Virginia, Center for Family Involvement at the Partnership for Persons with Disabilities at VCU.

Family: Married 25 years this September, to John Lochner. We have one young adult son, Cameron Lochner, currently enrolled in the Albemarle County school system.
Other interests and experiences:
Looking for a connection to the community, I began volunteering at the Charlottesville Ronald McDonald House, serving for 2 years. I became a member of the Albemarle Special Education Advisory Committee, and served as Chair during 12-13 school year and 13-14 school year. During the 13-14 school year, I became a member of the Parent Council, serving as a representative for Albemarle High.
