Charlottesville Area Community Foundation 2017 Youth Service Award

Charlottesville, Virginia – March 28th 2017 – The Charlottesville Area Community Foundation 2017 Youth Service Award Committee presented a $10,000 award on Monday, March 27 to Piedmont CASA. The Community Foundation presents the Youth Service Award to one student from the senior classes of nine area public and private high schools who have demonstrated active participation in community service, leadership and academic excellence. Students from the Youth Service Award Committee select and present a $10,000 grant to an organization serving the children in our community.

As part of its 50th anniversary, the Community Foundation announced the renaming of the program starting next year as the “Joe Gieck Youth Service Program” in honor of Joe Gieck’s service to YSA since 2005.

Youth Service Award committee advisors Joe Gieck and Antonio Rice gave an address in recognition of the students and YSA Student Committee members presented the Youth Service Award in recognition of the following students:

Piedmont CASA
Piedmont Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Inc. provides trained volunteers to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children, promoting and supporting safe, permanent and nurturing homes for child victims before the courts of the 16th Judicial District of Virginia. Piedmont CASA promotes awareness about child abuse and neglect through community education and outreach.
