This fall, central Virginia’s nonprofit newsroom Charlottesville Tomorrow is joining the collective of journalism organizations that receive support from the Ford Foundation with the receipt of a two year, $200,000 grant under the Foundation’s Creativity and Free Expression program.
“We are building a strong local newsroom that can serve this region with equity and stability,” said Charlottesville Tomorrow Development Director, Michaux Hood. “Support from the Ford Foundation, along with our local community of supporters, gives us capacity to invite more perspectives and community ownership of our local news.”
The Ford Foundation’s support will help Charlottesville Tomorrow deepen its coverage of health, government, education and housing and development, build staff capacity and audience support to deepen the community ties that make the organization sustainable.
