The Charlottesville High School Student Investment Group (SIG) has been selected as a finalist in the University of Pennsylvania Wharton Global High School Investment Competition. This is the second time in three years that the CHS team, led by founder and President Lucas Higgins, has been chosen in this prestigious competition.

The CHS team will join just 6 American and 12 international finalists selected to present their strategies during a special finale event in Philadelphia at the Wharton Business School on May 4-5. Countries represented include world the United States, China, India, Brazil, Norway, Canada and the United Kingdom.

About the Competition

Over the course of 10 weeks high school students compete with hundreds of teams from around the globe. They manage a portfolio of $100,000 in virtual cash through Wharton’s online trading investment simulator (OTIS). Each team submits a final 12 page written recommended investment strategy. The teams are judged on the strength and creativity of their strategies, not on the growth of their portfolios, which is a key differentiator between this and other investment competitions.
