This week we say goodbye to our two summer interns, Ali Sullivan and Norah Mulinda. Ali, a Colorado native, takes the knowledge she learned during her internship to the University of Virginia, where she majors in Government and Media Studies. “As a U.Va. student, it can be easy to get trapped in the college ‘bubble,” said Ali. “Interning at Charlottesville Tomorrow this summer made me think about the City in an entirely new way, and I’ve gained a new appreciation for and understanding of my community.” Ali will continue her pursuit of journalism as a writer for the Cavalier Daily. Norah, who grew up in Roanoke, Virginia, also attends UVA. Norah’s summer internship with Charlottesville Tomorrow included trips to New York for the Emma Bowen Foundation Conference and to Miami for the National Association of Black Journalists conference. “I really enjoyed my summer internship at Charlottesville Tomorrow! It helped me cultivate my writing skills and instilled in me the ability to look at journalism with a more critical and intentional lens. I loved the newsroom atmosphere,” Norah added. “I look forward to keeping up with everyone’s future work!”
