Here are all the Charlottesville-area organizations offering Pfizer vaccines to kids ages 5-11

The first Pfizer vaccines for children between ages 5-11 will be available in the Charlottesville area on Saturday.

The vaccine received final approval from the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention earlier this week.

Multiple local organizations will have the pediatric dose, but health officials say supplies will be limited for the next few weeks. As such, each local group will target specific children.

Here are the local groups that will have the vaccine, and who they are offering it to:

  • Blue Ridge Health District (BRHD) Community Vaccination Center at Seminole Square: Appointments at the CVC are now open to all children between 5-11, and can be made online here. Pediatric vaccinations here are by appointment only. Those appointments are filling up fast. The district said it will begin vaccinating children at CVC on Saturday, though by Thursday evening the earliest available appointment was Nov. 29.
  • UVA Health Pediatric Community Vaccination Center: Appointments at UVA Health are now open to all children at the hospital’s Vaccination Center, at 1204 West Main St. Pediatric vaccines will be available by appointment only. Existing UVA patients can schedule an appointment through MyChart, while non-patients can call 434-297-4829. You do not have to be a UVA patient for your child to be vaccinated here. The center will begin vaccinating children Monday.
  • BRHD school-based vaccine clinics: The district will host its first school-based clinic sometime next week at Jackson-Via Elementary School. That clinic will be the first in a series of clinics to be held at schools around the district. These clinics are by invitation only. The district is working with area school divisions to identify the “high risk” children in attendance based on their family’s socioeconomic status. These are children who are more likely to be exposed to COVID-19 because their parents may have more public facing jobs, health officials say. The school division will directly contact parents whose children may receive a vaccine at a school-based clinic.
  • Pediatricians: Several area pediatricians will have doses available for children with medical conditions that put them at higher risk of being hospitalized or dying from COVID-19. Parents who believe their child may have a high risk medical condition should contact their child’s pediatrician for more information.
  • Pharmacies: A handful of area pharmacies will receive pediatric doses of the Pfizer vaccine from the federal government that are available to all children. Visit to find pharmacies or other providers in your area that have COVID-19 vaccines for children.
