Your job title is Assistant Director of Human Resources. What, in your own words, would you say you do?
My position is responsible for policy development, employee relations and projects impacting the school division and sometimes the entire organization. I work to instill a culture of collaboration in order to reach to best solution to our challenges.
What is the best part of your job? The most difficult part?
The best part of my job is the variety of employees that I interact with in HR and across the organization, the fact that no two days are alike and the culture of friendly yet hard working employees. Also, I enjoy the opportunity to learn new technology and take courses to improve myself.
The most difficult part of my job is assuring all points of view are considered when making a decision and making sure that it is the right thing to do.
How does your job most directly impact the average person?
Changes to school policies and procedures have the most potential to impact every employee.
What is the most interesting project or work experience that you’ve had while with the County?
Helping to evaluate our current leave system by visiting many departments to gain employee input regarding how best to modify our leave system. Through this interaction I was fascinated by how employee input helped shape recommendations that will be invaluable to our organization while recognizing the concerns of our employees.
What is a little-known fact about you?
I enjoy playing the piano.
