Independent Lawrence Gaughan is a candidate for the Rivanna seat on the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors. Three of the six seats on board will be determined in the Nov. 3 election. Other candidates in this race include: Norman Dill (D); and Richard Lloyd (R).

Bio: Lawrence Gaughan was born in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1966 and graduated from Albemarle High School in 1985. In 2011 Lawrence earned his Master’s Degree in Social Entrepreneurship and Change at Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education. He is nationally recognized for his work in community engagement and voter participation. He is the founder and executive director of the non-partisan, non-profit voter engagement foundation, GOV360. Lawrence was a candidate in the 2014 election for Virginia’s 5th Congressional District garnering nearly 73,500 votes, including over 21,000 votes in Charlottesville and Albemarle County.

Other interests and experiences: Lawrence Gaughan is an avid gardener and outdoorsman. He enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, swimming, and camping. He is also a prolific musician, recording over 3 albums worth of Rock and Roll material in the past 3 years. He has a YouTube channel (LawrenceofVA) with well over 1 million views and he is a Freestyle Lego builder.
