Michael Basile is a candidate for the Samuel Miller District seat on the Albemarle County School Board. Five of the seven seats on board will be determined in the Nov. 3 election. Other candidates in this race include: Graham Paige & Brian Vanyo.

Bio: Michael Basile served in the USMC for 25 years, retiring in 2009. He was a fighter pilot and flight instructor for 12 years. While teaching students, he learned teachers cannot reduce instruction or practice time and expect good results. In Texas, he founded a nonprofit to educate and engage community organizations to fight child abuse. Basile moved to Albemarle County in 2006 and entered into private employment. He is gifted at solving problems in the factory and the community. His daughter graduated from AHS in 2012 and CATEC in 2013. He mentors several students attending Albemarle schools.

I am a part-time student at PVCC learning about electronics. I like riding motorcycles and fixing things. I love helping out in the community through organizations like Love INC.
