The nineteenth annual Arthur C. Greene Rising Star Awards will celebrate brilliant young artists from private and public high schools throughout Charlottesville and Albemarle County on Friday, October 2nd, 2015, starting at 5:30pm at CitySpace (100 5th Street NE) on the downtown mall. Everyone is invited to honor these young people’s outstanding achievements, and the evening will feature performances by a number of the participants.

“Rising Stars is one of the signature programs of Piedmont Council for the Arts,” said PCA Executive Director Gram Slaton. “There is no program like it anywhere else in central Virginia.

These high school seniors and a few juniors represent some of the most honored students in the Commonwealth, and many of them have participated in Governor’s School; professional musical, dance, or acting companies; or even broadcast television. Our kids are unlike any other, and it’s a privilege to be able to offer them this evening of celebration.”

Ninteen young artists are selected by teachers in their schools for the nominations, augmented by four nominees from arts organizations with a commitment to education. The 2015 honorees include, in alphabetical order by school:
