Kamptner looking forward to challenge of being Albemarle’s county attorney

A familiar face will replace Albemarle’s outgoing county attorney in the coming weeks. 
The county’s Board of Supervisors unanimously approved Greg Kamptner, deputy county attorney, as the new county attorney, effective June 1. The decision was made late in closed session during the supervisors’ April 12 meeting.
Kamptner, who has been with the county since 1995, will take the place of County Attorney Larry W. Davis, who announced his retirement in January. Davis, 61, has served as county attorney for 22 years and has another 13 years of service with local government agencies in Virginia.
