Yancey principal details progress and what lies ahead

The Albemarle County School Board received an update on the progress at of a county elementary school labeled as a priority school a few years ago.  

Craig Dommer, principal at Yancey Elementary School, presented to the board what he, the school’s staff and partners at the University of Virginia have been working on to improve test scores and the overall climate at the school.  

Yancey Elementary was identified as a priority school in the fall of 2014 based on the Standards of Learning test scores from the 2013-14 school year. Priority schools are among the lowest performing schools that receive Title I aid.
