Six Charlottesville City Schools and teachers will received grant from the Edgar and Eleanor Shannon Foundation for Excellence in Public Education. The teachers — along with their counterparts from Albemarle County Public Schools — will be recognized at an award ceremony on Friday, August 19 at 10 a.m. in the CATEC auditorium on Rio Road.

Totaling $6,214, the grants make possible innovative educational projects, ranging from STEM fields to therapeutic games.

“We are so appreciative of the Shannon Foundation for their generosity and support of public education in our area,” noted Jim Henderson, Associate Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.  “The impact of these projects is significant, and these projects are a perfect tribute to Mr. and Mrs. Shannon.”
