Off-season a busy time for area farmers

Though it’s hardly felt like winter this year, the off-season is a busy time for many Central Virginia farmers. These months often are used for planning, making repairs and attending meetings to prepare for the upcoming season.
At Bellair Farm in Albemarle County, they’re in the process of planning the next year’s crops.
“Farmer Christmas is getting your seed catalogs and going through them, checking out any new varieties that people have developed over the last year,” said farm manager Michelle McKenzie.
