In letter, supervisors, council seek to control over CACVB
The Daily Progress Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 10 p.m.
The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors and the Charlottesville City Council want seats on the board of the Charlottesville Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau.
To do so, the boards would eliminate the current CACVB board of directors’ decision-making power and make the bureau’s role advisory.
According to letters sent over the last week by the board of supervisors and the council, the bodies want to create an executive committee to oversee CACVB that would be made up of a representative from each elected body, the Charlottesville city manager, the Albemarle County executive, an economic development staff member from both the city and the county and a representative from the University of Virginia.
