Talks about potential move of Albemarle courts complex set to resume Friday

A moratorium on deliberating a potential relocation of Albemarle County’s courts complex expires Friday, but where negotiations stand between the county and Charlottesville remains unclear.

The Board of Supervisors, in a 5-1 vote in December, put a hold on the discussion to give officials time to negotiate with Charlottesville on several issues, including parking and the revenue-sharing agreement formula.

During public hearings near the end of 2017, the majority of those who spoke were in favor of renovating the courts in their current locations, including representatives from the Charlottesville-Albemarle Bar Association. But some emails sent to individual supervisors of the board as a whole last year showed disagreement.
